GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

Under the supervision of the Visitor Services Team Lead, this position performs entry-level to routine customer service work. Responsible for performing general clerical duties for the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. Responsibilities include revenue collection, gift shop sales and stocking of inventory, reconciliation of daily receipts, license sales and general cleaning. Provides customer service and information to the public in person and on the telephone. Works under close to moderate supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.



Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education :

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience :

Two years of general clerical, cash handling and customer service experience.

Licensure :

Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.

NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Knowledge of general office procedures.

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.

Knowledge of basic mathematics.

Knowledge of basic accounting/accountability of revenue collection.

Skill in using MS Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook.

Skill in effective verbal and written communication.

Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts.

Ability to accurately handle cash transactions and account for revenue collected.

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities.

Ability to perform general routine cleaning and light housekeeping duties.

Ability to interpret and maintain visitor compliance with facility rules and regulations.

Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.

Ability to perform manual labor including lifting supplies and materials up to 40 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Required to work 20 hours per week, includes flexible schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Required to travel <5% with possible overnight stays.

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.

Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 40 lbs.

Non-smoking work environment in State buildings and vehicles.
