This Program Coordinator recruitment is to establish an eligible list for the Probation Department. This list may be used to fill future vacancies as long as the list is active. As such, you are encouraged to apply even if a vacancy doesn’t exist in the program for which you are interested. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies for open, fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions which may occur in Probation and other County Departments while the list remains active.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Juvenile Services Program Coordinator is dedicated to serving Marin County’s systems-involved youth by connecting them with a comprehensive range of opportunities and resources, from educational skill-building and job training to work experience and career counseling. This position works as part of a team within the Probation Department’s Juvenile Services Division to support continuity of services across the juvenile service continuum, with a primary focus on vocational development through the Youth Working for Change and Career Explorer programs. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Bilingual Testing/Certification: If the successful candidate possesses bilingual skills, they must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English prior to appointment to qualify for a bilingual 5% differential. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidates possess the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements.

ABOUT YOU

The Ideal candidate will have a solid track record of productively managing employment and workforce development programs for youth, with a history of effectively working with justice-involved transitional-age youth (16-25). Possesses strong communication skills both verbally and in writing and understands how to effectively reach and engage diverse communities throughout the county. The selected candidate will be a person comfortable with participating in and facilitating collaboration among community partners and stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in a field closely related to the assigned program(s) and two years of experience providing community, educational, rehabilitative or counseling services including responsibility for planning and implementing programs and coordinating with community resources. Additional related experience may substitute for the education on a year for year basis.

Probation Department Special Requirement: Candidates selected are subject to fingerprinting by the Sheriff's Department and must pass a Department of Justice Live Scan background check and Internal Department Background Review prior to appointment.

Testing and Eligible List: Depending on the number of qualified applications received, the examination may consist of a highly qualified review, application screening, online assessment, written examination, oral examination, performance examination, or any combination to determine which candidates' names will be placed on the eligible list.

Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
