The Fresno County Department of Public Health invites applications for the position of Division Manager - Emergency Medical Services. Incumbents are responsible for the development, implementation, planning, evaluation and coordination of a four-county (Fresno, Madera, Kings, Tulare), regional emergency medical services system, through collaboration with health departments, hospitals, and providers throughout the region to ensure high-quality, efficient pre-hospital care, disaster preparedness, and system-wide, data driven improvements .

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below :

OPTION 1 :

Education : Possession of a bachelor’s degree that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system in Emergency Management, Business or Public Administration, Public Health, Health Education, or Environmental Science.

Experience : Six (6) years of full-time, paid work experience administering, coordinating, and evaluating emergency medical services programs, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

Substitution : Possession of a master’s degree that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

OPTION 2 :

Education : Possession of a bachelor’s degree that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system in Emergency Management, Business or Public Administration, Public Health, Health Education, or Environmental Science.

Experience : Six (6) years of full-time, paid work experience administering, coordinating, and evaluating emergency planning, preparedness, or response programs, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

Substitution : Possession of a master’s degree that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

The following information is in addition to the options listed above :

License : Possession of a valid Class “C” driver's license, or equivalent.

Possession of a valid Paramedic License issued by the State of California, Emergency Medical Services Authority or valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Registered Nursing, may be required.

Note : Recruitment and/or certification may be limited to candidates possessing experience and/or license related to the specific position vacancy as authorized by the Director of Human Resources.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur. Should a recruitment be open on a continuous basis, eligibles shall be certified in the order they are received not to exceed the maximum certification the department is entitled to.
