An Assistant Water Systems Superintendent job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department, Plant Operations Division. The Assistant Water Systems Superintendent will need to demonstrate collaborative management and leadership skills in planning, directing, managing and coordinating the operational and maintenance activities of 6 plants, collections, distribution, HVAC, and wholesale metering.

This position, assisting the Water Systems Superintendent, directs the day-to-day maintenance activities of all of the facilities and collaborates with other divisions, departments, consultants and outside contractors to ensure that plant operations is maintained efficiently, in compliance with all applicable regulations, and within established budget. The position provides technical advice and complex administrative support for the Assistant Water Director and ensures that modern, safe, effective, and efficient practices are utilized by personnel, as well as establishing accountability measures consistent with Department and Citywide goals and initiatives. Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions.

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
