- Conducts financial, compliance, and operational audits and accounting system reviews.
- Coordinates with external auditors.
- Conducts internal investigations of suspected fraud through the County Fraud Hotline.
- Evaluates and recommends improvements to accounting systems and internal controls.
- Prepares written audit reports and management communications.

Requirements REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY: A bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university in accounting or a closely related field**, including 21 semester units or 31.5 quarter units of accounting courses, including a course in auditing

OPTION I: Two years of professional auditing experience at the level of the County class of Intermediate Accountant-Auditor***.
OR
OPTION II: Three years of professional accounting experience****.
LICENSE:A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS: Physical Class 2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

***Experience at the level of an Intermediate Accountant-Auditor in the service of County of Los Angeles is defined as: Conducts management, performance, financial, and compliance audits and other studies within a government, public sector, large-scale private sector organization, or non-profit organization. Work includes planning and conducting audits, analyzing operations and internal controls, and preparing reports with findings and recommendations. You may still qualify even if your job title is not exactly the same as the ones listed. What matters is that your experience is at a similar level - meaning your job involves similar responsibilities, requires comparable skills and knowledge, and takes place within a similar organizational structure. ****Professional accounting experience is defined as: Complex and difficult assignments at a responsible level functioning as a lead or in a management capacity with extensive knowledge and experience of accounting processes and procedures.
