General Description: Performs complex (journey-level) administrative support work in support of ectoparasite response reporting to the Entomologist Specialist. Work involves administrative support for the ectoparasite section to include schedule meetings, presentations, and trainings; organizing and monitoring ectoparasite activities for the agency; tracking correspondence and maintaining records; and compiling data as assigned. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Duties: - Provides day-to-day administrative support for ectoparasite section, including scheduling, correspondence, meeting coordination, and action item tracking across multiple departments.
- Coordinates travel arrangements and expense reporting as necessary for entomologists and others as assigned and deployed across the response zone.
- Prepares, edits, and distributes information concerning ectoparasite cases and collaborates with agency staff to route to the appropriate points of contact.
- Schedules ectoparasite trainings and travels to TAHC regions to assist as needed.
- Supports procurement and logistics for necessary items related to ectoparasite response.
- Collaborates with TAHC region administrative staff to send packages to NVSL, regions, and other entities, as needed.
- Maintains a master directory of all ectoparasite related contacts and assists with outreach during active surveillance projects.
- Tracks deadlines for emergencies and reporting requirements related to ectoparasite response.
- Maintains, tracks, and updates response logs, situation reports, and case tracking databases documenting confirmed and suspected ectoparasite infestations in livestock and wildlife.
- May coordinate with USDA and other agency partners to identify needs for ectoparasite response.
- Assists with coordination and tracking of release operations.
- Manages communications between ectoparasite section and other agency management to ensure information flows accurately and promptly.
- Prepares briefing documents, situation reports, and communications under the direction of department leadership.
Minimum Qualifications: - Graduation from standard senior high school or GED.
- One (1) year general office experience, including data entry, the use of personal computer hardware and software, and other standard office equipment such as photocopiers, multi-line telephones, and fax machines.
Preferred: Experience in animal agriculture and/or entomology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures. Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to implement administrative systems and procedures and to interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Other Requirements: May require irregular working hours, overtime, and occasional weekends. Must have a valid Texas drivers license and safe driving record. Employment of selected candidate is contingent upon the receipt of an acceptable criminal background check and an acceptable moving violation record from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

IMPORTANT: The TAHC is an emergency response agency. This position plays a key role in the agency¿s emergency management activities. As a first responder, this position is subject to participate in rotating temporary duty assignments away from the regular designated headquarters for up to two weeks at a time. This duty may involve working in adverse conditions; may require irregular working hours and overtime; and may include duties other than those specified in the standard position description.
