HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING... - Receive, verify, sort, endorse, and batch incoming checks. Make photocopies of incoming revenue and assigns sequential endorsement receipt tracking numbers. Input payment details into the accounts receivable system or return payment to the sender when appropriate. Review and classify payments, applying correct revenue codes and fee classifications. Research unidentified payments to determine appropriate classification, coding, and account posting.
- Prepare daily bank deposits in accordance with federal, state, and agency-specific policies and procedures. Record deposit transactions in designated spreadsheets and tracking logs. Audit incoming mail and accounting receipts and distributes reports and documentation accordingly.
- Assist in reviewing and closing daily deposit batches, ensuring compliance with internal controls and separation of duties. Support reconciliation and closure of regional deposit batches entered by other staff members.
- Coordinate and reconcile regional bank deposits on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness of deposit records.
- Enter refund of expenditure transactions directly into the CAPPS financial system.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, finance, economics, business, or public administration from an accredited college or university, plus one year of experience where the majority of time was spent in accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
A graduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or public administration may substitute for two years of the required experience.
OR Five years of experience where the majority of time was spent in accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
OR Certification as a public accountant (CPA).
TRANSCRIPTS / COLLEGE HOURS or COURSE WORK See instructions on how to attach documents . A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed above.
Work Schedule Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Chief Budget & Efficiency Office.
