Building Serviceperson Lead to join the team at Cubberley Community Center.
Every day, Cubberley Community Center welcomes people for classes, sports, performances, meetings, and special events. As the Building Serviceperson Lead, you'll help keep the facility clean, safe, and ready for whatever the day brings.
This is a hands-on working lead position. You'll perform custodial and facility maintenance work while helping lead a team of approximately eight part-time custodial staff. You'll assist with staff scheduling, entering timecards, managing custodial supplies, coordinating work orders, opening and closing the facility, and preparing classrooms, gymnasiums, meeting spaces, and other public areas for daily use.
The regular schedule for this position is
Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, leads by example, enjoys staying active, and wants to make a positive impact in the community.
About the OpportunityCubberley Community Center is one of the City's busiest and most unique facilities. This 35-acre campus serves thousands of residents and visitors each year and hosts everything from youth sports and dance classes to community meetings, theater performances, educational programs, and special events.
As the Building Serviceperson Lead, you'll help keep the campus running smoothly by maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming facilities while supporting the daily operations of the custodial team. No two days are exactly alike, and your work will have a direct impact on the experience of everyone who visits Cubberley.
Typical duties include:
- Performing custodial and general facility maintenance throughout the campus
- Helping lead and coordinate the daily work of approximately eight part-time custodial staff
- Preparing staff schedules and entering employee timecards
- Opening and closing the facility
- Managing custodial supply inventory and ordering materials
- Preparing and submitting facility work orders
- Coordinating vendor visits, including pest control inspections
- Assisting with monthly facility fire drills
- Setting up classrooms, gymnasiums, meeting rooms, the theater, and other spaces for programs and events
- Inspecting facilities and reporting maintenance or repair needs
- Providing friendly and professional customer service to staff, tenants, and visitors
About Cubberley Community CenterLocated in south Palo Alto, Cubberley Community Center has been operated by the City since 1990 and is one of the City's largest and most active public facilities.
The campus includes classrooms, dance studios, gymnasiums, meeting rooms, a theater, outdoor gathering spaces, and athletic facilities. Essential DutiesEssential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Supervises inspection of work crews and tasks accomplished.
- Performs regular scheduled inspections of City facilities.
- Assures facilities are secured daily, turns off lights, locks doors and windows.
- Delivers supplies to City facilities and Building Servicepersons.
- Assists Supervisor in training staff on up-to-date cleaning methods and procedures.
- Makes minor in-house repairs on equipment or secures outside services.
- Assists in training staff in proper care and maintenance of equipment.
- Provides assistance in routine janitorial cleaning duties as necessary.
- Sets up rooms for meetings.
- Tends to surrounding grounds within immediate building perimeters.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum QualificationsSufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, which would typically be acquired through:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
- Two years custodial experience with Lead or Supervisory experience preferred.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
