COMMUNITY WORKER II

Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This recruitment will establish an open eligible list that will be used to fill current and future Community Worker II positions. The eligible list established may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

DEADLINE TO APPLY

HEALTH CARE AGENCY
The County of Orange, Health Care Agency (HCA) is a dynamic organization dedicated to creating and supporting an environment that promotes the achievement of optimal individual, family and community health. Under the direction of the Agency Director, a new and dynamic executive team with an organizational structure comprised of five (5) service areas - Administrative Services, Behavioral Health Services, Correctional Health Services, Specialized Medical Services and Public Health Services - is committed to meeting the health needs of the diverse Orange County community.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
The Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Division consists of the following service areas Adult and Older Adult Behavioral Health, Children and Youth Services, Quality Management Services, Mental Health Services Act Office, Data Analytics and Evaluation, Crisis and Acute Care Services, Substance Use Services, BHS Navigation, and Forensics and Justice Involved. These service areas provide a culturally competent and client-centered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health care.

THE PROGRAM
Substance Use Disorder Services (SUD) provides an array of prevention, treatment and recovery support services for youth and adults that include the Alcohol and Drug Education and Prevention Team (ADEPT), community SUD prevention programs, residential Treatment, outpatient treatment, perinatal services, narcotic treatment programs (NTP), Medicated Assistance Treatment (MAT), withdrawal management, Intensive Outpatient Program, recovery residences, and the programmatic oversight of the States Opioid Abatement Funding Plan in Orange County.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The SUD Division has an opening for a Community Worker II (CW II). The CW II will be responsible for providing childcare (not treatment) to minors between the ages of 0-12 years old, conducting drug screens, data entry, and providing administrative support to the program and team. The CW II will also enter test results into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, send out notifications using Outlook when positive results are received, and fax results to Social Services.
Services are provided Monday through Friday, with some programs requiring evening hours.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
While not required, the ideal candidate will possess experience providing support, childcare, and/or services to minors and/or experience working within a behavioral health setting. Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are also highly desirable but not required.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORINGING & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements: Vision sufficient to read standard text and a computer monitor; speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably in person and over the phone; independent body mobility to stand, sit, walk, stoop and bend routinely to perform daily tasks and to access a standard office environment; manual dexterity to use hands, arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and to write. The ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Mental Requirements: Possess the ability to independently reason logically to analyze data, reach conclusions and make recommendations; possess the ability to remain calm and appropriately focused in rapidly changing and difficult situations involving conflict, complex issues, controversy and diverse stakeholder groups and interests; possess the ability to deal calmly and effectively with emotional interactions.

Environmental & Working Conditions: The ability to work in the field and interact with the public, other County employees, including supervisors and managers, staff and management in other governmental and regulatory agencies, and service providers in a variety of situations which may be emotional, stressful and/or difficult; Ability to work with very young infants and knowing how to comfort and sooth sometimes fussy and crying babies.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Human Resource Services (HRS) will screen all application materials to identify qualified applicants. After screening, qualified applicants will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.

Online Assessments (Weighted 100%)
Applicants who meet desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in one or more job related assessments. Only the most qualified candidates will be placed on the eligible list

Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.

Based on the Department's needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.
