Grade 16 - Starting hourly rate: $21.90. Rate of pay depends on qualifications. Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Meter Alarms & Events Specialist is a member of the SAWS ConnectH2O Operations team and is the 500W and static meter events/alarms subject matter expert for SAWS. The Specialist collaborates regularly with Itron, SmartWorks, consultants and other SAWS resources to understand and address events and alarms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Acts as subject matter expert for 500W and static meter events and alarms.
- Develops collaborative working relationship with Itron’s subject matter experts for events and alarms.
- Develops understanding of meaning of all events and alarms produced by the 500W and by static meters - including the triggers and the known resolutions for each.
- Develops collaborative working relationship with SmartWorks’ subject matter experts for reports produced based on interpretation of alarms/events and interval data.
- Collaborates with Itron, SmartWorks, and other SAWS resources (Reading/Account Review, Field/Meter Technicians, IS) to develop new and modify existing processes for addressing events and alarms.
- Triages events and alarms reported each day and supports SAWS resources with the active investigation and resolution of events and alarms.
- Identifies anomalies and/or negative trends in the occurrence of events and alarms that may be indicative of broader system and/or meter/module issues.
- Proactively seeks opportunities to gain a better understanding of events and alarms and to translate this understanding into day-to-day operations.
- Develops collaborative working relationship with and supports fellow team members.
- Communications with appropriate team members and management about the ongoing state of events and alarms.
- Responsible for fulfilling AMI-related data requests from SAWS business areas or from external entities (may have to determine the best means to obtain, extract and provide the data or report).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
DECISION MAKING- Reports to ConnectH2O Operations Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 years’ experience in customer service.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- 5 years’ experience in meter operations or related field.
JOB DIMENSIONS- Demonstrated ability to develop expertise in new systems and business processes.
- Excellent problem solving and reasoning skills.
- Excellent interpersonal management and communications skills.
- Ability to self-direct and operate autonomously.
- Ability to successfully complete Itron Temetra training.
- Ability to successfully complete SmartWorks Compass training.
- Working knowledge of water metering and SAWS field practices.
- Skill with Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Physical requirements include lifting up to 20 pounds. Subject to sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time. Requires visual acuity, speech and hearing. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with possible field visits to project sites, vendor meetings and/or other Service Centers. May operate a company or personal vehicle to conduct site visits.
May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule such as nights and weekends.
