As a Customer Service Liaison with Public Works, you’ll work with citizens, County departments, municipalities, and other partners to research concerns, coordinate service requests, track work orders, and make sure people know what is happening with their request.

This role is a good match for someone who can communicate clearly, stay organized, research information, follow an issue through to resolution, and provide strong customer service even when requests are time-sensitive or complex.

HIRING SALARY: $45,053 - $50,731 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES INCLUDE:

What You’ll Do
  • Learn the services provided by the different divisions within Public Works so you can help connect citizens with the right information and resources.
  • Respond to citizen questions, concerns, and service requests in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Coordinate with County offices, municipalities, and other partners to research and resolve customer issues.
  • Enter and track customer requests using the Department’s work order and permitting systems and keep citizens informed of progress and outcomes.
  • Research easements, rights-of-way, road information, property ownership, and maintenance responsibility to help answer questions and resolve concerns.
  • Prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, presentations, travel documents, procurement card recaps, and other administrative materials.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Procurement Department and enter and track staff summary sheets through the internal processing system.
  • Generate and review reports from the work order management system to help monitor activity and identify outstanding work.
  • Assist the Customer Service Team Lead with updating procedures and communicating department changes to the team.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with municipalities, state agencies, County departments, and other partners.
  • Keep your supervisor informed of work progress, issues, and opportunities to improve processes.
  • May be required to report during hazardous weather or emergency conditions.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the role.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two(2) to five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, technical, or customer service experience.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with citizens, coworkers, County departments, municipalities, and outside agencies.
  • Ability to learn Public Works services, County processes, and department procedures.
