Essential Job Functions
Process reports, charts, tables, lists, bills, receipts, statements, case files, permits, licenses, notices, and other documents in accordance with established procedures.
Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable legal and administrative requirements.
Provide information to the public regarding regulations, procedures, forms, applications, permits, programs, and services.
Maintain records and compile data requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and the application of established procedures.
Compare, verify, and segregate documents using specialized knowledge beyond routine clerical review.
Search and extract information from records and files where judgment and discretion are required.
Index, cross-reference, organize, retrieve, and issue records and filed materials.
Calculate fees and amounts due and assist with the collection and processing of payments.
Request, receive, store, inventory, and issue office supplies while maintaining related records.
Operate office equipment, distribute incoming and outgoing mail, and serve as a receptionist or counter clerk as needed.

Requirements
Requirements to Qualify:
Six (6) months of office clerical experience gained through an on-the-job training program as a Veteran Intern, Office and Clerical Support*, or as a Veteran Intern, Administrative Support*, within the County of Los Angeles.
Special Requirements Information:
*Applicants must hold or have held the payroll title of Veteran Intern, Office and Clerical Support or Veteran Intern, Administrative Support within the County of Los Angeles. Only current or past enrollees may compete in this examination for permanent appointment to the Intermediate Clerk position in accordance with the Civil Service Rule 6.02A(3) . Applicants who have a Certificate of Participation issued by the Director of Personnel demonstrating that they have completed the County of Los Angeles Veteran Intern, Office & Clerical Support or Administrative Support must submit a copy of their certification at the time of filing or within seven (7) calendar days of filing your application online. Out-of-class and Withhold Information:
No withhold or out-of-class experience will be allowed for this recruitment. Required experience must be fully met at the time of application.
License:
A valid California Class C Driver's License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Class:
2 - Light. This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Examination Content:
This examination will consist of a multiple-choice and/or simulation assessment(s), weighted 100%, measuring:

Applicants must meet the Requirements to Qualify and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register.
Exam Review:
Some exam materials shall not be subject to review. Multiple-choice and simulation assessments are not reviewable by candidates per CSR 7.19.
Transfer of Test Components:
If you have taken identical components recently for other exams, your responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to that exam.
Test Preparation:
We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies throughout LA County as they occur.
