Summary
The position enforces security practices to all employees, students, visitors, and the College's facilities. This position will also be expected to adhere to compliance guidelines and training requirements associated with the Campus Security Act (CSA).Classification: Support Staff AssociationStaff Duration: Part Time 12 monthsKey ResponsibilitiesEnforces College security policies to students, employees, outside vendors and visitors.Patrols the campus on foot, bicycle, cart or car ensuring a positive perception of safety and professionalism serving as a visual deterrent s to crime and misconduct.Monitors safety equipment such as surveillance cameras and fire alarms.Generates and maintains accurate documentation including incident reports and sees they are communicated to the Toms River Police Department.Inspects, secures and monitors all College facilities to detect fire, property damage or other irregularities.Identifies the need to escort students, staff and visitors within the boundaries of departmental policies.Works at all OCC facilities including offices, classrooms, and equipment rooms, which may have limited ventilation or be heavily congested. Security Officers must work under adverse weather conditions and may be subjected to varying temperatures within the buildings.Participates in annual CSA compliance training and adheres to the guidelines of the Campus Security Act when carrying out the duties of this position.Related projects and initiatives.QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent diploma.One year experience in security, military, law enforcement, or related field monitoring property and providing safety.Successfully complete an Ocean County College training program within 90 days becoming certified in First Aid, CPR and AED if not already.Able to do physical labor which may involve heavy weights, considered manageable and safe, and must be able to transport equipment including fire extinguishers and first aid equipment which may weigh 40 pounds.Valid New Jersey Driver's License in good standing.Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) certified.Prior experience in a college/university setting.Proof of graduation from an accredited police academy and certification by the Police Training Commission of New Jersey.Certification and ability to carry a firearm as a Retired Police Officer (RPO).#J-18808-Ljbffr
