RoleYavapai County is seeking a forward-thinking, results-driven Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead our Information Technology Services (ITS) department. This executive-level role is a key member of the County’s leadership team, responsible for setting the strategic direction of the technology initiatives that support and enhance public services across all departments. The CIO will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of innovative, secure, and efficient IT and GIS operations.

The position is in Prescott, Arizona, the beautiful region of Central Arizona. Yavapai County is one of the four original Arizona counties formed in 1864. Named after the Yavapai Tribe, whose name means the “people of the sun,” the County is just north of Phoenix and about 60 miles south of the Grand Canyon, featuring some of the most spectacular natural beauty in the American West. Prescott’s perfect weather provides an average temperature of 70 degrees, with four beautiful and distinct seasons with breathtaking landscapes complete with granite mountains, lakes, and rolling meadows.
The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable IT professional with exceptional communication and collaboration skills, eager to adopt a hands-on approach to both assist and lead the department. Will have a proven track record in IT management and possess the ability to develop, maintain and promote a vision for the future technological needs of the County.

Major Duties, Responsibilities- Directs the administration of the department including staff management, budgeting, performance monitoring, reporting, planning and priority setting.
- Develops and maintains effective and productive relationships with senior management, departments, staff, and vendors.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates the selection, purchase, installation, and repair of desktop, server, network, and telecom systems for all County departments.
- Develops and implements long range strategic plans to address the evolving informational processing needs of the county and its customer needs. Evaluates new technologies for possible integration into County function, makes recommendations and budget proposals to meet those needs.
- Plans, develops, establishes, and enforces County technology standards, policies and procedures.
- Makes presentations to the Board of Supervisors, community groups and professional associations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems or closely related field.
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in IT management, staff development, organizational budgeting, personnel management, and/or related field(s).
An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
