The City of Fort Worth Water Capital Delivery, In-House Design Group is seeking an Engineering Technician I. The selected candidate should be able to read engineering plans and spec books as well as water and sewer maps. Employees at this level will provide technical assistance to professional level engineering staff and maintains engineering records.
Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Class “C” driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Must pass Drug Screen, Physical, Tuberculosis screening
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience using GIS
- 3 or more months experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D
- Associate's degree in a technical or related field
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word
The Engineering Technician I job responsibilities include: - Applies survey information and field notes to create designs and drawings for various engineering and planning projects
- Assists engineering staff in the preparation of engineering designs, drawings, specifications and construction project estimates
- Reviews plans for compliance with City standards and general construction practices
- Performs a variety of tasks in support of assigned area, including design and drafting
- Provides information to the public, contractors and consultants relative to guidelines and procedures
- Conducts project site visits to take measurements and to verify existing field conditions
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.
Physical Demand Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
