Deputy District Attorney I, II, or III

Larimer County Fort Collins, Colorado, United States

Job Description:

Deputy District Attorney I, II, or III

Description

Overview

The District Attorney’s Office is hiring Deputy District Attorney I or II prosecutors to handle County Court cases and is also considering candidates at the DDA III level for specialized roles in the Special Victims Unit (SVU) or Drug Task Force.

For SVU, we’re looking for a compassionate and skilled attorney to prosecute sensitive cases, including sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. Ideal candidates bring empathy, professionalism, and a strong commitment to justice and victim advocacy.

For the Drug Task Force, we’re seeking a dedicated attorney to handle drug-related prosecutions, collaborate with law enforcement, and support enforcement efforts. Candidates should have solid legal knowledge and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Our main office is in Fort Collins, with a second location in Loveland. We’re lucky to work near the Cache La Poudre and Big Thompson Rivers, Horsetooth Reservoir, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Staff are encouraged to take two long lunches a week to enjoy our community - whether it's running trails, biking in our Platinum-rated bike-friendly city, or taking a yoga class in Old Town.

Our office is open Monday - Friday, 8-5 p.m. After a probationary period, there is a 1 day/week telecommuting option.

The District Attorney’s Office follows a blind hiring process. During the initial screening, hiring managers will only see your application, with your name and other identifying personal information redacted. Resumes and cover letters will be reviewed later, so please ensure your application is fully completed.

Please make sure cover letters are addressed to Matt Maillaro, Assistant District Attorney, and indicate whether you want to be considered for the DDA I or II or the DDA III position.
