ABOUT THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES:
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation. DHS operates as an integrated health system, operating 25 health centers and four acute care hospitals, in addition to providing health care to youth in the juvenile justice system and inmates in the LA County jails. Through academic affiliations with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Southern California (USC), and the Charles R. In addition, to its direct clinical services, DHS also runs the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency and the County's 911 emergency response system, as well as Housing for Health and the Office of Diversion and Re-entry, each with a critical role in connecting vulnerable populations, including those released from correctional and institutional settings to supportive housing.

Provides overall technical and administrative direction over clinical chemistry laboratories in the Department of Health Services.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

One (1) year of experience as a Clinical Chemist Supervisor I * or the equivalent in an approved clinical laboratory . **

* Clinical Chemist Supervisor I experience in the County of Los Angeles is defined as: Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the technical and administrative operations of a clinical chemistry laboratory.

* * An approved laboratory is defined as: A clinical laboratory that has a federal issued Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) Laboratory Certificate of Accreditation that authorizes the laboratory to accept human specimens for the purpose of performing laboratory examinations, and is accredited by the College of American Pathologist (CAP) or The Joint Commission.

LICENSE:
Applicants must have ONE of the following licenses issued by the State of California:

Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Additional credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:

**** To receive credit for board certification, we require a copy of the official or temporary certificate or official passing score report from the issuing board. To receive credit for the successful completion of a fellowship program, we require a copy of the official certificate of completion or an official letter signed by authorized personnel which indicating the completion of an accredited fellowship program. Proof of board certification and/or fellowship can be attached to your application or sent via email to ahsu3@dhs.lacounty.gov within 7 calendar days of filing.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
Training and Experience Evaluation:
This assessment type will evaluate the training, experience, desirable qualifications, and education you list on your application and supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This assessment is worth 100% of your total score.

The passing score for the assessment is 70%.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:

Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. Candidates who have passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.

No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
