Description

Minimum Qualifications
This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:


Graduate Engineer A:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
None.

Graduate Engineer B:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in engineering.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
Engineer-In-Training ( EIT ) Certification in the State of Texas,
OR If certified in another state, must have the ability to obtain Texas EIT certification within six (6) months of employment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The graduate engineer will assist the AUS Planning & Design team in the following:
- Preparing and reviewing technical documents, such as design drawings, material lists, cost estimates, project schedules, and construction documents
- Assemble, interpret and apply knowledge of technical code/manuals, such as the AUS Design Standards Manual ( DSM ), FAA Airport Design and Engineering Standards, International Building Code, and more to review, coordinate, and advise on designs of infrastructure projects throughout Planning, Design, and Construction stages or projects or as needed
- Coordinates and/or performs tasks related to the programming phase of the project (planning and preliminary design/concepts): identifies user needs and requirements; confers with all appropriate parties to solicit input and feedback.
SALARY RANGE :
Graduate Engineer A:
$33.49 - $42.71
Graduate Engineer B: $35.50 - 45.27

ASSESSMENT

A skills assessment will be required for this position.

DRIVER’S REQUIREMENT

This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA .

This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL

This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.
