Summary

The Hazardous Waste Management Program serving King County, Washington seeks an experienced Administrative Specialist III to help the Program fulfill its vision in making the Puget Sound region the cleanest in the country-one free of hazardous chemical exposure. About the Role:

The Administrative Specialist III is one of two administrative staff whose responsibility is to support the Hazardous Waste Program (HWMP). This role supports the HWMP section in its functions of operation, performance, racial equity, planning, policy, finance, and communication. Key priorities include accounting/finance responsibilities, records management, inventory management, document preparation, recruitment support, travel and expense processing, and line of businesses support.

This position performs work remotely and onsite.

About the Team:

The Hazardous Waste Management Program (HWMP) is a regional coalition of governments working to protect public health and the environment. The Program serves King County, Washington’s 2.3 million residents and 70,000 businesses, with an annual budget of $21 million and approximately 70 staff. The Program’s mission is to protect and enhance public health and environmental quality by helping residents and businesses reduce the threat posed by the production, use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. The Program provides a range of services including household hazardous waste collection and disposal, prevention programs, and policy initiatives. This Program is a collaborative effort of several participating agencies. This position will be hired by the Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD) of the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, which is one of the participating agencies. The Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD) is at the forefront of King County’s efforts to protect and restore clean water and healthy habitat and strengthen the resilience of communities, environment, and infrastructure in the face of climate change. WLRD has a strong track record of developing innovative strategies for protecting working farms and forests, restoring habitat, and ensuring county residents have equitable access to green space. We reduce flood hazards, manage stormwater, reduce toxic threats, and provide other natural resource management services throughout King County. WLRD’s mission is to protect, restore, and manage King County's water and land using the best available science, innovation, and collaborating with partners and the community.
