Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic's patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.
Major/Essential Functions- Responsible for conducting phone calls with an abandonment rate goal under 5% for average handling time for calls returned to the queue.
- Attends monthly department meetings.
- Answers phones, schedules appointments, consults, pulls consults, schedules hospital D/C(Discontinue or Discharge) and messages to nursing staff.
- Sends notes to ENT(Ear, Nose and Throat) and Audiology.
- Helps notify new patients of their upcoming appointments.
- Works ENT Clinical pool to schedule appointments for nurses and physicians, as well as their post op follow ups.
- Answers questions that another PSS(Patient Service Specialist) in the call center has regarding scheduling, consults and messages.
- Ensures insurance authorizations are received before scheduling appointments.
Required QualificationsA High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
