The Public Works Department is responsible for delivering capital improvement projects for a wide variety of City facilities and infrastructure, maintaining City facilities and fleet assets, facilitating and regulating development activities, and providing animal care and services . Position Duties

The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill one (1) vacant Facility Repair Worker position within the Facilities Management Division. Under general supervision, this Facility Repair Worker will perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the repair of buildings and equipment at San Jos é City Hall.

Salary range for this classification is $77,355.20 - $94,036.80 annually. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

This Facility Repair Worker position will be stationed at San Jos é City Hall. City Hall is an 18-story high-rise structure which adds maintenance and operational challenges. In addition to the typical duties of a Facility Repair Worker, the successful candidate will maintain the potable/reclaimed water systems, learn how to maintain pressure variances in the systems, operate and maintain a large water feature/fountain on site, and work in high locations utilizing a scissor-lift and Reach M aster ® 138 ft. boom lift. City Hall houses the upper management of most of the city departments, as well as the Mayor and City Council Offices. The ability to work in a politically sensitive environment is essential.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Completion of eighth grade.

Experience : Three (3) years of experience in the construction, repair and maintenance of buildings to include semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical work.

Computer Skills - E xperienced with common business computer applications , including but not limited to: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, MS Excel, and work order database system.

Customer Service - D emonstrates the ability to anticipate customers' needs and deliver services effectively and efficiently in a timely , accurate , respectful, and friendly manner .

Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills - D evelops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks and using collaboration and conflict resolution skills .
