Description
The City of Weatherford’s Development and Neighborhood Services Department is looking to hire a Code Enforcement Officer. This position performs a variety of professional technical planning and inspection duties and performs related work as assigned. Ensures compliance with all currently adopted building and code enforcement regulations governed and enforced by the department. Ensures complete and accurate processing of code enforcement complaints. Provides correspondence, answers telephone, and provides timely, accurate and friendly customer service. Roles & Responsibilities Include:- Answers questions, distributes forms and provides a variety of information regarding city planning, zoning, and building codes.
- Conducts site reviews and evaluations of proposed projects; meets with the public and contractors to provide logistical support.
- Investigates complaints regarding code compliance issues. Composes and delivers verbal or written orders for correction of violations of the codes and ordinances.
- Performs compliance inspections with housing, zoning, environmental health, nuisance, and abatement codes, regulations, and ordinances to ensure compliance with approved plans.
- Performs building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspections.
Qualifications• High school diploma or GED; or business or vocational school training in construction or craft trades; or with a bachelor’s degree in a related field planning, geography, law enforcement, construction, architecture, engineering preferred or any combination of experience, education or training that will produce the desired qualifications. • Six months’ experience in construction and the technical aspects of enforcing codes preferred. • Must possess Code Enforcement Officer Registration from the State of Texas or be able to obtain within 180 days of employment. • Additional International Code Council (ICC) certifications desirable. • Must have a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
