DESCRIPTION

Under general direction of the Chief Building Official/Chief Code Enforcement Officer, or their designee, this position assists with the enforcement of all provisions of the Ukiah City Municipal Code, performs code inspections, and enforces the zoning code, answers general questions from the public and contractor community at the counter regarding codes and ordinances for enforcement in the City of Ukiah.

This is the full journey-level class. Employees at this level are distinguished from the Code Enforcement Inspector I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class shift away from office and group fieldwork to more defined, independent work.

Necessary Special Requirement

Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's license.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Applications will be reviewed by a screening committee and those applicants who appear to be among the best qualified will be selected for the examination process. This process may include a variety of techniques designed to test applicants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. An eligibility list will be established by ranking candidates by their overall score and a selection will be made from the candidates on this list. All employment offers are subject to a City-paid physical examination and a thorough reference and background check.
