Definition and Class CharacteristicsNevada County's Elections department is hiring for Clerk Recorder Assistant I & II to help with the Special Election November 4, 2025. Shift work October - December 2025 Come join an extraordinary Elections department! In this role you will perform clerical duties related to Elections administration. These duties include:
- Maintaining the voter registration roll including processing affidavits, contacting registrants for additional information, verifying precincts, and entering and updating data in the computer
- Generating reports, notices and labels; maintaining affidavit files; and notifying other counties of new registrants
- Assisting candidates in filing for election and helping ensure the documentation associated with an election is completed
- Preparing, assembling, and distributing publications, notices, sample ballots, ballot cards, and other printed materials
- Answering phones, assisting customers, and working with public media to communicate up-to-date and accurate information regarding voting procedures, rights, and regulations
The Clerk-Recorder Assistant I is the entry-level class in this series. Under close supervision, this position performs a full range of assigned duties related to Elections and the administration of Elections, processing of official documents, and filing of legal documents.
A Clerk-Recorder Assistant II, under general supervision, performs the full range of assigned duties requiring knowledge of elections and the administration of elections, processing of official documents, and filing of legal documents.

Sick Leave:Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 80 hours of sick leave which may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.
Medical Benefits:Temporary employees whose assignments average 30 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in County-sponsored medical benefits.
