Position DescriptionEmployees in this role assist a supervising physician by collecting and reviewing patient information to support clinical decision-making and the development of care plans. They provide health care services to patients under the direction and supervision of the physician. This role focuses on delivering family-centered, comprehensive care to children and adolescents in close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other health care team members. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is key to providing high-quality clinical care, educating families, and promoting the overall health and well-being of pediatric patients.
Major/Essential Functions- Provide comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients, including health assessments, physical examinations, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Obtain detailed patient and family histories, interpret clinical data, and order/perform diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and EKGs.
- Perform therapeutic and preventive procedures including immunizations, injections, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
- Develop and implement evidence-based patient care plans, document progress, and ensure continuity of care.
- Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment adherence, disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and developmental milestones.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide emergency medical care when necessary, in alignment with clinical protocols and patient safety standards.
Required QualificationsGraduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
