The City of Fort Worth Water Utility is hiring a Safety Coordinator to help lead our Occupational Health and Safety Division. You'll play a vital role in developing and overseeing safety programs that protect employees, ensure compliance, and strengthen our Utility-wide culture of safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in safety management, occupational health and safety or closely related field
• Five (5) years of safety experience and/or training
• Possession of a safety credential (GSP, ASP, CSP, CHST, MSP, CSD, etc.) or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment
• Valid Texas Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASP certification or other related certifications
• At least three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in conducting safety and health audits and/or inspections
• Extensive presentation and/or safety training experience
• Previous incident investigation experience

The Safety Coordinator job responsibilities include:

• Lead a dedicated safety team. Supervise three Safety Officers, set priorities, coach performance, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Shape safety policies. Develop and maintain Utility-wide safety procedures that meet or exceed OSHA, DOT, and TCEQ standards.
• Drive safety training. Design and coordinate safety training programs that empower employees to work smart and stay safe.
• Spot and solve risks. Conduct safety audits and inspections, prepare reports, and follow through on corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
• Continuously improve. Evaluate department programs to ensure safety initiatives are efficient, effective, and evolving with the organization's needs.
• Manage resources wisely. Participate in budgeting, planning, and monitoring contracts to ensure every dollar contributes to a safer workplace.
• Be a change-maker. Promote a safety-centric culture built on teamwork, innovation, and shared responsibility.

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

• Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
• Occasionally work around hazardous chemicals and unsafe work conditions including inclement weather.
• May utilize fall protection equipment for climbing.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
