A Water Systems Specialist job is available with the City of Fort Worth in the Plant Operations Division of the Water Department. The selected candidate will supervise, coordinate, and review the work of subordinate employees responsible for operating one of four Water Treatment Plants and other related facilities; review daily reports related to work performed by employees; inspect and ensure proper operation of all water treatment plant processes and related facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure that operational, maintenance, and safety procedures are followed at all times; initiate corrective actions to ensure efficient water quality; inspect work in progress; provide advice and assistance to technical staff as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: - Associate's Degree from an accredited college in engineering
- Four (4) years of responsible experience in water treatment including one (1) year of lead supervisory experience
- Possession of a Class "B" Water Treatment license
- State of Texas Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience at a large water treatment plant greater than 5 MGD
- Possession of a TCEQ Class "A" Water Treatment Plant Operator License is preferred.
- Water plant or field environment
- General knowledge of SCADAdistribution system
- Experience with WIMS, Maximo, ArcGis etc.
The Water Systems Specialist responsibilities include: - Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
- Participates in the requisition of materials and supplies; and compiles specifications for equipment and contracts.
- Provide leadership and guidance to key personnel as part of professional development through administration of an effective training program.
- Record and maintain detailed information on the operation of the water plant and compare the results with goals, regulatory and environmental standards
- Inspects water treatment plant pumping stations, storage reservoirs and associated facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure operational, maintenance and safety procedures are followed.
- Coordinates with plant or distribution staff to make changes or adjustments to stay in compliance with all pertinent regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
