Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for the direction and supervision of Medical Billing Associates and the various aspects of maintenance of patient billing accounts. This position supervises patient registration, insurance follow-up and collection, financial screening of unfunded patients, responses to patient billing inquiries, collection of patient payments, posting of payments and rejections, and other related activities in the Regional Campus Business Office or department. Directly supervises Medical Billing Associates and Sr. Medical Billing Associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the TTUHSC policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching and mentoring employees as needed; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Major/Essential Functions- Prepares daily deposits from clinics and the MPIP Business Office, coordinating the double verification of funds by following established safe and cash box procedures.
- Reconciles payment batches to bank statements, ensuring all deposits are balanced and properly documented daily.
- Monitors and processes returned items from the bank and Accounting Department.
- Supervises Cashier, Mail Processing and Payment Posting personnel including recruitment, training, performance management and time management.
Required QualificationsA minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent required, Five years of office experience. Bachelor's degree in business or related area preferred OR Three years' work experience in the Medical Billing Associate program.
