Vacation & Sick Leave

At the City of Buckeye, we understand the vital role that vacation time plays in supporting the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our employees. Vacation and sick leave accruals begin on the first day of employment and may be used upon accrual. Additionally, employees receive credit towards vacation leave accruals for years of service with other public sector retirement systems nationwide (not including Federal service).

Holidays

The City of Buckeye observes eleven holidays per year: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Retirement
This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12.27%, per fiscal year.

This position has a hiring incentive of up to $2,500 - $5,000 based on experience. Half of the incentive to be paid to the employee at the six (6) month anniversary and the remaining half to be paid at the one (1) year anniversary.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, transports prisoners and documentation between various locations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent AND completion of basic law enforcement, corrections, or detention officer training program or possession of valid Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification or one (1) year experience and/or training involving law enforcement, corrections facility or detention center work; OR any combination of education, training and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be able to successfully pass AZPOST firearms qualification and medical exam.

Special Requirements: Must successfully pass a pre-employment screening to include a comprehensive background investigation, drug test, polygraph, and psychological exam.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors and in standard office environment.
