Position Description:
Duties:
Brief Description:
Performs residential plan examinations and inspections that assure safe construction of residential buildings. Ensures County Department is in compliance with all state and local laws pertaining to the examination of construction documents under the applicable Building Codes. Identifies areas of improvement and recommends changes to the Building Code Administrator.
Job Prerequisites:
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in the field of architect, engineering, construction management, or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university; and minimum three (3) years related experience and/or training regarding residential construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience that qualifies for certification through the Ohio Board of Building Standards.

Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):

Level 2 Residential/Limited Commercial (RLC) Certification (RBO)* Valid Ohio Driver’s License

*May be acquired after hire and obtained within one (1) year of employment.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Possess excellent: Interpersonal Skills and Conflict Resolution Skills. Demonstrates knowledge of the Residential Code of Ohio and related Codes. Ability to operate engineering and analysis software, detect hazards and violations, enforce regulations with firm, tact and impartiality, read and interpret plans and specifications and compare them with construction in progress, meet the state minimum requirements for required certifications and able to be covered under the county fleet vehicle liability insurance policy.
Compensation:
Salary: $66,560.00 - $74,880.00
