The City of Austin's Emergency Medical Services Department provides 9-1-1 emergency medical response to the citizens of Austin and Travis County serving a population of over 2.2M citizens in a service region of over 1,039 square miles. While most of the assistance we give to the community is medical in nature, the smallest part of what we do involves truly time-critical life-threatening emergencies. Yet everything we do is about service: service to our patients, their families and loved ones; service to our community; and service to the people who make up Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

This position is responsible for oversight of the EMS Recruiting Program to include the full recruiting and hiring cycle for all EMS Uniformed personnel. This position will be responsible for supervising a staff tasked with monitoring all hiring processes from recruitment to academy placement while applying contractual obligations and ensuring compliance with Chapter 143 and city processes. The ideal candidate will be recruited to improve the effectiveness of EMS recruitment efforts by focusing on recruiting the best medics, refining the recruitment process, and aligning with the organization’s purpose to become the employer of choice by developing innovative recruiting and retention strategies and training initiatives.

Purpose:

Under limited direction, this position leads the EMS recruiting program, supervises staff and oversees the marketing, sourcing, interviewing, and hiring processes for uniformed EMS employees. This position manages the full cycle of the recruiting process, ensuring that the team hires qualified employees and satisfies EMS’s current and future staffing needs.

Salary Range:

$71,630.00 to $90,980.00

Hours:
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Schedule may vary based on business need with option for hybrid telework schedule after successfully completing a six (6) month in office probationary period.
