Yavapai County is seeking a skilled and motivated Hydrologist I or II, depending on qualifications, to support the County’s water resources assessment, monitoring, and planning efforts. In this role, you will apply your knowledge of hydrology, data analysis, and field investigation to evaluate groundwater and surface conditions, conduct technical studies, interpret complex environmental data, and support science-based decision making for county projects and long-range resource management.
Hiring range for Hydrologist I: $25.74 to $32.82 per hour (depending on qualifications)
Hiring range for Hydrologist II: $28.38 to $36.18 per hour (depending on qualifications)

Minimum Qualifications

Hydrologist I Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, or related natural or physical science field.

Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in hydrology, civil engineering, geology, or related field.

An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Hydrologist II Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, or related natural or physical science field.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in hydrology, civil engineering, geology, or related field. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Must obtain Certification as a Floodplain Manager (CFM) through the American State Floodplain Management Association within one (1) year of employment.
Must possess certification to fly unmanned aircraft systems.
