Position Summary

We are home to Nevada's ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center. We are a Pathway Designated facility by ANCC, and we are on our journey to Magnet status.

Position Summary:
Transports patients to and from a variety of locations within UMC. Other duties include running errands and changing oxygen tanks.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Graduation from High School or GED.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; infection control policies and procedures; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:
Applying CPR; following oral and written instructions; applying proper lifting techniques; using equipment such as radios, battery chargers, gurneys, carts and wheelchairs; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Strength, mobility and stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time; vision to read printed instructions and labels; hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person, over the telephone, and over a two-way radio; exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
