The Heating & Refrigeration Mechanic II position will contribute to the maintenance and repair of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in City of Austin facilities. This position requires hands-on experience with troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC systems, pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, and other mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency of HVAC systems. Job Description:

Purpose:

Under general supervision, this position performs work of a complex nature, including installation, maintenance, and repair of residential or commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and systems in City facilities.

Monday through Friday; 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Salary Range: $26.03 - $31.04 hourly

Driving Requirement:
This position requires a Texas Driver’s License in good standing or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classification:
This position is classified as NON-EXEMPT.

Overtime may be required with or without notice.

Rotational on call and call back is required by the position.
