RequirementsMOS Codes: NoneEducation and Experience : A Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Administration or related field.
Licenses and Certificates : Valid U.S. Driver's License.
General PurposeUnder general direction, perform professional level work in planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring activities of the City's economic development programs and services and provide highly responsible administrative support functions.
Typical DutiesProvide professional level assistance to the Economic Development Department. Involves: Ensure efficient planning of director's agenda. Arrange for time and location of board, committee and staff meetings and coordinate and provide support services. Prepare and post agendas, attend public meetings and record or prepare proceedings as required. Maintain confidentiality and ensure accurate documentation and proper dissemination of directives and other management information to numerous organization levels, other departments, external organizations and the public. Review documents for accuracy and completeness; correct errors or bring them to the attention of appropriate personnel; and research and compile information for reports.
Represent the City administration to various private enterprises and public agencies. Involves: Coordinate efforts and information with various City departments to identify, retain and assist business and industry. Research and compile demographic and economic data in response to prospective client inquiries. Respond to general inquiries of the Economic Development Department. Coordinate of promotional activities such as site tours, presentations and meetings between local area businesses, governmental real estate and development representatives and client companies; visit businesses on behalf of the City; assist in determining incentive programs to be reviewed by City Council. Analyze department contract requirements. Involves: Analyze terms and conditions of department contracts and ensure compliance. Meet and communicate with grant and contracting officers, consultants, corporate and management personnel, other public entities' staff and project managers. Create and maintain electronic contract and financial tracking systems. Prepare monthly and annual reports on contracts. Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required.
