THE CITY

The city provides a full range of municipal services including Fire, Police, Housing & Human Services, Planning & Development, Public Works, Parks, Recreation &Community Services, and Transportation.

THE POSITION

The Assistant to the City Manager / Process Improvement is an unclassified executive management position that serves as a senior member of the City Manager’s Office leadership team, reporting directly to the Senior Assistant City Manager. The position provides enterprise-wide leadership for citywide initiatives, organizational performance improvement, operational excellence, and cross-departmental process optimization.

This role functions as the City’s executive lead for continuous improvement, using Lean Six Sigma and performance management methodologies to modernize service delivery, improve efficiency, eliminate duplication, and enhance accountability. The position ensures that executive priorities and City Council direction are translated into measurable, data-driven outcomes across departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, organizational development, or a related field.

Experience

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in public sector administration, executive support, organizational performance, or strategic initiatives.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.

• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).

• Experience supporting executive leadership or a City Manager’s Office.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
